We have decided to look for a retirement home for our Vivian. She’s been a great showdog and mother she deserves to be a couch queen.
Viv is a 7 year old girl who was an excellent show dog in her prime. She finished her championship easily as a puppy and went on to become a Top 20 basenji in the country, also an Award of Merit winner at the National Specialty. She's a big talker, prefers women over men and will snuggle with you on the couch. She is crate trained, lead trained and house trained. As with all basenjis, must be in a fenced yard or on a lead as they are runners. She is clear by direct test for Fanconi Syndrome.
I will not place her in a home with another female. She is uncomfortable with small children and probably not cat safe. In her perfect home, she would be the only dog but would be ok with a non-dominant male basenji. Like most basenji girls, she thinks she is in charge.
